Assembly Technician

Assembly £39,550 starting salary. Company based in Cowes. Pension, enhanced annual leave & company shares .
Required experience:
  • Assembly, Repair and Modification of products from Line Replaceable Units through to Radar systems
  • Using business systems and processes to record and evidence compliance
  • Assisting and supporting development of other personnel
  • Formally qualified in appropriate electrical assembly Workmanship Standards, have completed a relevant apprenticeship, or have proven relevant experience
  • Awareness and working understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001
  • Be able to perform complex assembly, disassembly or modification of electromechanical subassemblies and Radar systems
  • Work to close tolerances accurately with attention to detail to ensure consistent quality is maintained
  • Prototyping capability utilising limited data and documentation to support 1st off build and able to provide clear and accurate feedback for product, process development
  • Experienced in reading and interpreting technical drawing, wiring schedules and circuit diagrams

Your Capabilities:
  • Proficient in software development, including methods, practices, and version control systems.
  • Skilled in using the MATLAB/Simulink toolset for engineering applications.
  • Knowledgeable in Linux systems with additional experience in various software languages such as Python and Java.
  • Holds a degree in a STEM subject, providing a strong foundation in engineering principles.

My client is part of a leading Aerospace & Defence group with this opportunity being based in Portsmouth. They are looking for an Electronics Engineer who will be responsible for the electronic aspects of torpedo design, repair, and maintenance. The role will provide you with the opportunity to join various complex development projects. You will see various stages of the lifecycle and contribute through these phases.
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Design and development of electronic assemblies, from specification through to release into service
  • Maintenance of existing designs and implementation of technology insertion programmes
  • Ability to support off site trials activities
  • Support the testing of high voltage alternators using bespoke test equipment
  • Translation of requirements into design detail
  • Component selection, schematic capture, and support to PCB layout
  • Specification of bespoke procured items
  • Interfacing with related disciplines including mechanical/thermal engineering, ILS, Safety, and Production
  • Able to follow the engineering lifecycle and undertake progress, peer and design reviews
  • Experience of generating component level designs for introduction into volume production using computer-aided engineering
