My client are a large, global business with a requirement within this specialised team, which delivers advanced mission systems engineering capabilities to their customers while developing and evolving future defence technologies.

You will be part of the team which uses an agile work planning process to develop mission system concept options, architectures, and designs for the various components of a future combat air system. The successful candidate will lead and support team meetings / DSUMs / Agile reviews in addition to creating Engineering documents that form part of the Systems Engineering process.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent relevant experience
  • Systems engineering and engineering lifecycle experience

Lead Systems Engineer

Lead Systems Engineer – Hull – Hybrid Working

My client are a large, global business seeking Electricians who will be helping to build the Type 26 frigates for the Royal Navy. This includes the install all types of cables (multi-core, single core, and co-axial) & electrical systems.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Installing of all types of cables (multi-core, single core and co-axial) & electrical systems (junction boxes, fuse panels, consoles, transformers, switches etc.)
  • Cable terminations and installation of all electrical equipment
  • Using a range of hand tools

Your skills and experiences:

  • Trade papers, e.g. Formal Modern apprenticeship (ability to provide papers)
  • Understanding of electrical installation drawings
  • Clear understanding of SHE Risks Awareness
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Must be comfortable working in confined spaces and or at height

Our client, a global leader in their industry, have a requirement for an Aerospace and Support Engineer to join their team on a Permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be working as part of a team writing procedural and descriptive maintenance publications in order to deliver in line with Customer requirements. You will be utilising current authoring toolsets and developing future ways of working, utilising emerging technology for digital engineering and advanced information systems. In addition to this, you will build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

  • Good IT Skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • An engineering background, preferably in an aerospace environment, although skills/experience from other sectors such as maritime, land or an appropriate production engineering/manufacturing environment would be considered
  • Have a working knowledge of engineering principles and the product lifecycle
  • Applicable work experience or HNC (or above) in a relevant STEM subject

Shift Patterns:

Mon – Thurs

  • Day Shift: 07:00 – 16:30
  • Back Shift: 14:00 – 23:30

Overtime Rates:

  • Mon – Thurs: Time and a third
  • Friday: Time and a half for the first 4 hours, double time from then on

Your skills and experiences:

  • Have completed an appropriate trade apprenticeship, naval equivalent qualifications, or qualifications (NVQ in Trade)

  • Ability to work at heights and confined spaces

The Constructive Trade team:

Working for a world recognised defence organisation – refit and maintenance of all serving vessels. Such as QEC and Type 45 Destroyers. This team is responsible for the constructive aspects of the maintenance, e.g. new components and structural repairs, of the British Naval Fleet.

Pipefitter

Pipefitter – Up to £34,640 starting salary, role based in Portsmouth. Overtime and £1400 shift allowance available.

Required experience:

NVQ Level 3 in relevant subject

A sound knowledge of all pipework systems and materials including connectors, adaptors, couplings, and fastenings is essential as is the ability to braze to required standards, class.

A deep understanding of all domestic plumbing within a ship environment, removal and installation.

The ability to weld, (TIG, MMA) would be beneficial but not essential, as would be the ability to work with and install composite pipework.

Main contract hours Mon – Thur 07.30 to 16.15, with 45 min unpaid lunch, Fri 07.30 to 12.30

Flexible Working SchemeFWS this is a yearly contract that runs alongside your main contract

Flexible Working Scheme (FWS) (compulsorily for new starters) contract hours (which you are available for, if the company stands you up)

Mon – Thur 07.00 to 17.30

Fri 07.00 to 13.00

Stand up/down & Shift work is allocated by the TL in discussion with the schedules requirements he needs to fulfil, so this means the TL will discuss with his/her team who want to go on either early shift or back shift to ensure fair use of FWS to ensure the workload is met. This is done on a weekly basic at the toolbox talk each Friday so in accordance with the scheme everyone is given 5 working days’ notice, so if you work with the TL they will work with you to try & keep everyone is content and working within the FWS.

Early shift is Mon – Thur 06.00 to 15.00, Fri 06.00 to 13.00 with OT undertaken afterwards, this includes 30 min lunch break paid & 15% uplift on hourly rate

Back shift is Mon – Thur 13.00 to 22.00, Fri 10.00 to 16.00 with OT undertaken prior to shift start time, this includes 30 min lunch break paid & 25% uplift on hourly rate.

Any Over Time is voluntary and worked as above this is paid the following month, we are paid on or near the 15th each month.
